In 1981, as The Rolling Stones toured the US, they stopped by Buddy Guy's club in Chicago to see Muddy Waters. They ended up joining Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and others on stage and the result is captured in the DVD Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones Live At The Checkerboard Lounge. While long available as a bootleg VHS tape, this is the firs time this performance is available from a first generation copy. While some portions of the show are pretty loose, some portions are incredibly tight. And it's amazing to see this band playing in a "juke joint" with the tables jammed right up against the stage.
It's a fascinating inside look at just how much the great British Bands owed a debt to American blues legends. Eagle Rock has released several more live DVDs of The Rolling Stones in the 1970s as well as titles featuring Gary Moore, Pink Floyd, and The Raconteurs.
